Museum

The Quirinal Stables, built in the XVIII century and annexed to the Quirinal Palace, host the most important Capitoline art exhibitions.

History

The palace was built by Pope Innocent XIII between 1722 and 1732, with the function of papal stables in today's Piazza del Quirinale, on the remains of the great Roman temple of Serapis.
The total area is 3000 square meters distributed over several floors, which enjoys a panoramic view over the city from the highest hill of Rome.
From shed for horses and carriages first papal and then royal, in the 30s it became a garage, and finally renovated in 1999 by architect Gae Aulenti to become one of the most beautiful exhibition spaces in Rome and inaugurated on December 21 by the President of the Republic.
For over 10 years it has been featuring the largest exhibitions in the capital, from pop art to the great masters of the Renaissance.

Collections

Visiting the Quirinal Stables visitors have the chance to see ongoing exhibitions cyclically held in the beautiful galleries of the palace. The historic building has been preserved intact after the restoration and re-evaluated in its unique historical value.
