About

The Duomo terraces, normally not reachable, offer an incredible opportunity to discover Florence Duomo (Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral) and see the city from a breathtaking point of view. Don't miss the chance to admire Brunelleschi's magnificent Dome. When we enter the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, our guide, who is both knowledgeable and passionate, will first direct our attention towards it. This cathedral, also known as the symbol of the city, was designed by a talented architect named Arnolfo di Cambio. It holds the distinction of being the third largest church globally, with only St. Peter's in Rome and St. Paul's in London surpassing it in size. It is worth noting that during the 15th century, when it reached completion, this grand structure was considered the largest church in all of Europe. The building holds within its walls a multitude of diverse styles, each serving as a testament to the evolving preferences that spanned the extensive timeline from its inception to its finalization. Uncover exquisite works of art, such as Paolo Uccello's intricately crafted clock, Vasari's vibrant frescoes, and Bandinelli's majestic marble choir. It is important to take note that during the 6PM departure, you will ascend directly to the Duomo terrace, bypassing the opportunity for a more thorough exploration of the Cathedral. Embark on your journey to the heavenly realm of Florence: the arduous climb up the staircase, meandering through narrow and open-air passages that have remained secluded from the masses for ages, will be met with a priceless reward - an unparalleled vista of the city from the majestic Duomo Terraces, perched atop the cathedral. A celestial promenade where one cannot help but feel weightless, suspended amidst the urban tapestry adorned with ancient rooftops and towering structures, all while being dwarfed by the grandeur of the Dome mere meters above. Prepare yourself for an extraordinary expedition to these exclusive Terraces which are typically off-limits to ordinary mortals. Capture breathtaking snapshots from this lofty perch that stands 32 meters tall (105 ft), nestled within the heart of the historic city center. Discover the fascinating tale of the colossal freestanding cathedral dome's construction and its enduring reign over Florence's skyline for six centuries. This architectural marvel has withstood the test of time, defying both earthquakes and the relentless march of years. Through his remarkably ingenious method of vaulting the spacious dome without the aid of scaffolding, Brunelleschi forever altered the principles of architecture. In doing so, he concocted a means to challenge gravity itself and attain a sense of eternal transcendence. Reaching the highest level of this Florentine Heaven, you will have the opportunity to reach the 91-metre-high (300 ft) panoramic viewpoint and experience breathtaking views when you reach the top of Brunelleschi's Cupola (the Dome). Florence's Cathedral complex offers a visit that is both comprehensive and unparalleled. Christianity takes you on an incredible adventure that will leave you in awe.
