An enlightening experience

The Brunelleschi's dome has always been the symbol of Florence. With this tour you will have the opportunity to discover all its secrets, accompanied by an expert guide, and rise above the tallest building in the city to admire the stunning view from the top.

With a special ticket that will allow you to jump the queue, thereby saving long waiting time, you will enter the Duomo of Florence: the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the third largest cathedral in the world, after St. Peter's in Rome and St. Paul's in London.

Florence Cathedral was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio. Its construction was begun in 1296 and completed only in 1436. The works were interrupted and resumed several times over the decades by masters like Giotto, Francesco Talenti and Giovanni di Lapo Ghini. The completion of the dome required great intelligence and skill, not only for its design but for the construction itself, since at that time, they didn't have machines that could get to work at such heights. Brunelleschi found a truly innovative solution to this problem and succeeded, with his idea of a double shell, to complete the construction of the dome.

After visiting the interior of the Cathedral and the Santa Reparata Crypt, the tour will take you at about 30 meters above the ground, going up a staircase and passing through narrow outdoor corridors, which for centuries have been closed to the public. From that special place you will enjoy breathtaking views of the city. Walking through the Duomo terraces you will have the feeling of being suspended between the roofs of houses and the huge dome of the cathedral. You will have unique possibility to take memorable photos and enjoy all the magic of the city. During the walk the guide will explain you all about the dome, its design and construction and how, even today, it is the city's symbol, visible from every corner of it.

After the walk on the terraces, you will be able to continue the climbing reaching the top of the dome, a panoramic viewpoint  91 meters high, easily skipping the long and unavoidable queues.

About

Discover the breathtaking Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, also known as Florence Duomo, from an exclusive point of view with the opportunity to access the normally unreachable Duomo terraces. Take in the magnificence of Brunelleschi's Dome and see the city from a unique perspective. With an early access pass, our enthusiastic guide takes us straight to the heart of Florence: the Duomo of Santa Maria del Fiore, hailed as the ultimate emblem of the city. Revered as Arnolfo di Cambio's masterpiece, the cathedral ranks as the world's third largest church behind Rome's St. Peter's and London's St. Paul's, and at the time of completion in the 15th century, was Europe's grandest edifice. Paolo Uccello's clock, Vasari's frescoes, and Bandinelli's marble choir are just a few of the masterpieces you'll stumble upon in the building. The changing tastes over the long period between its foundation and completion are evident in the numerous different styles throughout. Skipping the more in-depth visit of the Cathedral, please note that in the 6PM departure you will climb directly to the Duomo terrace. Climb the staircase to reach Florence Heaven, the closed narrow and open-air corridors from centuries ago that lead to the Duomo Terraces, giving an unparalleled view of the city below. From the terrace, you'll experience a sky walk as if floating over ancient roofs and towers, with the imposing Dome looming overhead. A rare opportunity to visit a normally closed area, the Terraces offer a panoramic view of the old town from a 32-meter-high point, perfect for taking incredible photos. Brunelleschi's groundbreaking technique of constructing the enormous self-supporting cathedral dome without scaffolding still reigns over Florence's skyline for over six centuries to this day. By ingeniously vaulting the dome space and effortlessly circumventing gravity, he revolutionized the architecture world, ensuring that it withstood both natural disasters and the aging of time. Discover the secrets behind this magnificent sight and how it redefined traditional building procedures for eternity. At the peak of Brunelleschi's Cupola lies an awe-inspiring treasure, an aerial vista point that stretches 91 meters (300 ft) above the city. From this elevated perspective, Florence reveals itself in all its majesty, unfolding with vistas that will take your breath away. Florence's Cathedral complex can be fully explored with a thorough visit.
Christianity's most remarkable voyage of all time.
