Description
Begin a guided visit that skillfully combines the rich art and history of Florence by seeing both its famous Uffizi Gallery and the private Vasari Corridor. Your tour starts with fast entry to the Uffizi, where you can explore works by great artists like Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo da Vinci, among others. Led by skilled guides, dive into the growth of Italian art, following its changes from the Middle Ages to the height of the Renaissance.
At the end of your guided visit to the Uffizi, you will be able to enter it easily and directly from the gallery, thus making your experience complete. The Vasari Corridor is another great surprise for this visit: built in 1564 by Giorgio Vasari for the Medici family, it is an elevated passageway that connects Palazzo Pitti with Palazzo Vecchio crossing over the river Arno on top of the famous Ponte Vecchio. While walking through the Corridor they will be accompanied (but not by a tourist guide) amazed at beautiful views and stunning glimpses both of Ponte Vecchio itself and central Florence.
Following its closure to public access in 2016 for major restoration works, the corridor has seen massive renovation focused on uplifting its architectural features and improving security. After eight years of staying locked, this world-acclaimed monument will be unwrapped come 2025 offering tourists the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rediscover its historical significance and architectural magnificence.
It was in 2007 that the Towns of Italy came out as the first tour operator who, on a regular basis, opened this hidden gem for view, consequently making it accessible to visitors from all over the world. Accompanied by its much-anticipated reopening, this visit becomes an excellent opportunity to walk on the trails of the Medici with some unique views over Florence while getting to know stories about the powerful family who led history in this city. This is an exclusive opportunity to see Florence from a perspective that most do not get a chance to.
Please note that the Uffizi Gallery tour will be with a professional licensed guide, while the walk in the Vasari Corridor will only be accompanied though not by a tourist guide. Due to complex logistics management of access to this Corridor, there could be some slight variations in entry times resulting in between 1 hour and 30 minutes up to 2 hours inside the Gallery guided.
