For modern art lovers

Established in 1925, the Gallery was moved to its current location only in 1995; it is the former convent of the nuns called Carmelitane Scalze, that offers a suggestive but relatively small space to exhibit this collection made up of about 3000 works including paintings, sculptures, drawings and engravings, of which only about 150 are cyclically exposed.

This collection, also called the "citizens' collection", shows the spectator artworks dating from the late nineteenth century to the first half of the twentieth century and illustrating the Roman artistic environment through illustrious but also secondary names.

One of the themes of the masterpieces exhibited in these rooms surely is the figure of the woman exalted in the nude body with works of great sensuality like Woman with flowers by Adolfo De Carolis and "La sultana" by Camillo Innocenti, but also with profound looks like The doubt by Giacomo Balla; we also find the woman as a tender mother figure exalted by the painting Woman with child by Ludovico Tommasi, next to the restless and reflective woman painted by Vincenzo Irolli in his work The wait or in Girl at the window by Contardo Barbieri.
